Layer height is the thickness of each printed slice, but it cannot tell you everything about a miniature. A smaller number describes a finer vertical step. It doesn't tell you whether the face reads clearly, the parts fit together or the preparation suits the project you want to paint.

For FDM, layer height and nozzle diameter are related settings, while nozzle and extrusion behaviour also affect what can be reproduced across a layer. A universal nozzle, temperature, cooling and speed recipe ignores the actual printer and material. If you print at home, start with guidance for that equipment and validate the result on your own part.

For a purchased kit, your decision starts later. You are choosing the object that arrives and the preparation included with it. Choose preparation work separately from layer height

Bronze, DIY Ready, includes no sanding, gap filling or primer. Choose it if you want to inspect and handle that preparation yourself. Silver, Detail Ready, adds lightly sanded support marks and fills drainage holes that would remain visible after assembly. You still assemble the kit, seal assembly seams, prime and paint.
